What You'll Achieve.

troubleshoot any issues impacting the functioning of the computer and video interactives; troubleshooting and repair of computer/AV equipment
Must be able to routinely lift up to 60 lbs., climb stairs, work while walking or standing, On-site support may be needed on occasional weekends or holidays., Candidates must be available to adjust their schedule on occasion to accommodate exhibit work outside of public museum hours.
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
At least one year of experience with general construction or carpentry, and painting, At least one year of experience working with a wide variety of power tools and workshop equipment: table saw, panel saw, circular saw, pneumatic tools, router, etc., Knowledge of and general experience with lighting, lamping, computers, and AV technology
Nice to Have
A technical or associate’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, At least one year of experience with museum exhibit construction and installation strongly preferred, At least one year of experience handling museum objects strongly preferred, Ability to work with metal or plastic, as well as wood a plus, Mechanical aptitude is essential, Dedication to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment and observing safety and risk management procedures in public areas and workspaces is critical, Ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team, Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, Excellent painting skills preferred, Experience with troubleshooting and repair of computer/AV equipment is a plus
What You'll Do.
Routine Exhibit Maintenance
Case and object cleaning
Performs basic repairs of physical exhibits
which may require various repair and construction techniques
as well as painting and some basic carpentry
Support for Multimedia Interactives
Daily review of museum interactives to ensure optimal functionality
Exhibit Production/De-Installation
other space preparation
and building of exhibit structures and components
Perform various duties associated with exhibit deinstallation and installation work
including installation of exhibit objects
AV/computer components and lighting
Participate in cleaning and organization of the Exhibit Department shops and storage areas (on-site and off-site)
Participate in team meetings
and committees to support cross-departmental collaboration in support of HMSC’s strategic plan
Other related tasks as needed
