What You'll Achieve.
Ensure critical mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems operate with intended reliability, efficiency, and compliance; Meet or exceed all life safety, fire safety, physical environment, and regulatory requirements; Drive a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement; Support all requirements on and off campus; Effectively support staffing, tools, test equipment, training, and external contracted support; Ensure corrective and preventative maintenance activities are completed accurately and in a timely fashion; Maintain all related documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards; Communicate outages or repairs in a timely, professional manner to all impacted stakeholders; Ensure repairs, maintenance, and construction activities are conducted in a safe manner; Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards; Optimize planning and scheduling; Maintain appropriate inventories of parts, supplies, and equipment; Minimize operational disruptions; Ensure an optimal environment for patients, staff, students, and visitors; Meet and support the department’s operational goals; Carry out the maintenance program safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively; Ensure compliance with all Board of Trustees (BOT) policies, purchasing requirements, and contracting standards; Safeguard integrity and accountability of all facilities operations functions; Implement best practices; Strengthen operational performance; Support institutional growth

What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Facilities, Construction Management or Engineering Technology, 10 years’ related work experience, 7 years’ of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, Broad knowledge of HVAC, mechanical and electrical repair and systems, utilities, and total building systems associated with the healthcare or higher education industry
Nice to Have
Master's degree obtained/completed within 2 years of hire
What You'll Do.
develop and implement Facilities Operations and Maintenance program requirements
Establish and direct a comprehensive Facilities Operations and Maintenance program
Ensure resources are managed collectively
Ensure appropriate budgeting is identified and established
Ensure complete and compliant documentation of all maintenance activity
and procedures for utilities response
Provide leadership and planning for capital infrastructure renewal projects
and monitor department staffing and operational budgets
Ensure continuous regulatory readiness
Ensure 24/7/365 operational availability of all facilities
Provide direct leadership to the Facilities management team
Ensure productivity and performance of in-house and contracted labor
Ensure maintenance staff are properly trained
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Collaborates with other senior leaders within the Charleston Facility Engineering Division; Works closely with the Business Services team; Partnering with MUHA Regional Facility Directors, Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) peers, and other organizational leaders; Fosters communication and collaboration with hospital and university staff and other support departments; Collaborates closely with MUHA Legal, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams; Partners closely with clinical, academic, research, Board of Trustees, and operations leadership
