Full Job Description

Job Title: ESOL-Middle Position Function: The Middle School ESOL teacher under the direction of their principal will provide tailored instruction of foundational skills in English to a diverse, multi-leveled, and multi-aged group of students who have a second language spoken in their home. The Middle School ESOL teacher is culturally proficient, self-motivated, demonstrates a passion for continuous learning, and has the ability to facilitate a successful learning community for English Language Learners (ELLs) and faculty and staff. Required audit documents will be completed and maintained for all ESOL students within the building. Academic progress and records will be updated and documented in order to identify areas of growth in the English Language Acquisition. Works with classroom teachers, parents, and students to provide and implement classroom educational needs and supports in order to meet student¿s academic levels. Essential Performance Responsibilities: Provides direct instruction and facilitates student learning using current best practices and strategies in one or more subjects such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, etc. Maintains required audit documents for all ESOL students within the building for the school district Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicate those objectives to students, parents, and peers as appropriate Creates effective lesson plans to guide daily instruction and/or prepare classroom instruction promoting students¿ success in provided curriculum and on district, state and national assessments. Collaborates and communicates with staff to meet the educational needs of students Creates, administers, and grades tests/assessments to evaluate student progress Establishes and enforces rules and procedures which help to maintain order in the classroom to create a learning environment for all students Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on the progress of students.
