What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Associate degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum, two (2) years of progressive technician level or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Ability to effectively use verbal and nonverbal skills to express routing or simple technical and/or program concepts and related facts in a clear, concise, organized manner, Ability to work safely in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures and construction site hazards such as traffic, heights, and uneven terrain, Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing is required, Must be able to lift 50lbs, legally operate a motor vehicle, Safety Toe Shoes Required

Nice to Have

General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs, Experience conducting independent, moderately complex inspections, with limited supervision, Skill in evaluating and applying engineering judgment to construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures, Experience maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry, Experience inspecting contracts such as routine mowing, long arm mowing, litter removal, string trimming, roadway sweeping and plant bed maintenance/mulching, Working knowledge of Work Zone Safety and NCDOT Workplace Safety Policy and Procedures

What You'll Do.

Serve as inspector for contractual operations

Monitor grounds maintenance

Oversee facility maintenance

Ensure work adheres to regulations

Conduct inspections 24/7

Perform night and weekend inspections

Respond to emergency closures

Keep records of inspection scores

Submit water usage reports

Submit recycling reports

Coordinate vegetation removal program

Process permits and fees

Inspect contracted work

Oversee stormwater device inspections

Inspect landscape enhancement projects

Inspect plant bed maintenance contracts

Assist with mowing contracts

Assist with litter contracts

Assist with tree removal contracts

Assist with asset inventory collection

Ensure work performed on NCDOT Right of Way is safe

Conduct routine inspections for compliance

How You'll Work.

Team & Collaboration

work with the contractors and their staff; coordinates Selective Vegetation Removal program with outdoor advertising companies, business owners and contractors

Communication Scope

effectively use verbal and nonverbal skills; verbally communicate with the general public
