What They're Looking For.

Must Have

5+ years of software engineering experience, background in full-stack development, 1-2+ years of experience in a leadership capacity (e.g., Team Lead, Tech Lead, or Engineering Manager), Proven track record of balancing hands-on coding with coordination or leadership duties, Experience working with external client integrations, APIs, or SDKs in a SaaS environment, Experience working with distributed/remote teams, grasp of software architecture, REST APIs, modern cloud infrastructure, capable of deep-diving into code to unblock the team, Familiarity with AI-assisted/agentic coding workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor), maintain the rigour to audit and review every line of generated code, genuine interest in coaching and mentoring engineers to help them improve their craft, Understanding of the constraints and requirements of enterprise clients (Security, SLAs, Compliance), Ability to translate technical complexity into clear updates for stakeholders and non-technical partners, Comfortable with on-call responsibilities and managing production environments

About the role We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a small cross-functional engineering team focused on evolving, onboarding and integrating Ada’s solutions into customers’ systems (Health Systems and Life Sciences). This team owns critical services that are configured and deployed to meet customer requirements. You will perform a player-coach role - ideal for a technical leader who wants to remain hands-on with code while continuing to hone their management skills. You will split your time between technical contribution (architecture, code review, key feature development) and people leadership (mentoring, career development, and process improvement). You will partner closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers to define technical feasibility for enterprise clients and ensure we deliver robust, safe, secure, and scalable integrations. This is a remote position based in Canada. Our preference is for candidates located in Eastern or Atlantic time zones as there is a lot of crossover and interaction with teams located throughout Europe.
