What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Proven, hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions using the Open Telemetry framework (OTEL), including collectors, exporters, and instrumentation libraries., Extensive hands-on experience with at least one enterprise-grade observability tool (e.g., New Relic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, ITRS Geneos) covering both Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Infrastructure Monitoring., Demonstrable experience in successfully engineering, deploying, and managing open-source based solutions within a large, complex enterprise environment., Familiarity with agent control planes and management protocols., Software engineering background with proficiency in multiple languages such as GoLang and Python., Practical experience with key components of the modern observability ecosystem, including Prometheus and Grafana., Solid understanding and practical experience with high-throughput messaging systems, like Apache Kafka., Exceptional debugging and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex performance and stability issues in distributed systems.
Nice to Have
Direct experience with OpAMP is a significant advantage., Experience with Java and/or NodeJS for instrumentation purposes is highly valuable.
What You'll Do.
Translate strategic architecture into detailed
practical designs for the OTEL collection tier.
Lead engineering efforts to build
and deploy OTEL solutions.
Guide global engineering team in development and lifecycle management of OTEL data collection agents and OpAMP-based supervisory control plane.
Ensure solutions adhere to internal technology standards
and regulatory guidelines.
Architect and build collection pipeline for massive data volumes.
Design and implement mechanisms for regional data protection and data sovereignty.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a globally distributed team.
Champion best practices for CI/CD
and release management.
Own debugging and resolution of complex technical issues across the observability stack.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports on OTEL ecosystem health
Manage current Observability Platform and plan migration to new platform.
