The starting time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m. Evening and weekend hours as needed. **Location:** Engineering Division **JOB SUMMARY:** Under direction, performs engineering tasks such as working on a survey crew, drafting, CAD, inspecting construction and permit projects for compliance to federal, state and local standards and specifications, gathering traffic information such as: crash data, traffic counts and assisting with special studies or traffic problems as assigned. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** Performs inspection on routine permit projects or engineering projects (or may work as an assistant to a higher-level Engineering Aide) and on construction inspections involving utilities such as: watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas main, electric, telephone and cable services being constructed within the road of right-of-way (to ensure proper location, depth and alignment). Inspections for construction and permit projects are required in order to ensure compliance to federal, state and local standards and specifications.
