The starting time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m. Evening and weekend hours as needed. **Location:** Engineering Division **JOB SUMMARY:** Under direction, performs engineering tasks such as working on a survey crew, drafting, CAD, inspecting construction and permit projects for compliance to federal, state and local standards and specifications, gathering traffic information such as: crash data, traffic counts and assisting with special studies or traffic problems as assigned. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** Performs inspection on routine permit projects or engineering projects (or may work as an assistant to a higher-level Engineering Aide) and on construction inspections involving utilities such as: watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas main, electric, telephone and cable services being constructed within the road of right-of-way (to ensure proper location, depth and alignment). Inspections for construction and permit projects are required in order to ensure compliance to federal, state and local standards and specifications. Inspects road construction materials such as concrete, bituminous mix manufactured aggregates. Conducts field and laboratory
