Job Summary: At LG Energy Solution Arizona, Inc., the Engineer II – Analysis will play a key role in conducting failure analysis to identify the root causes of product failures and safety issues related to lithium-ion battery cells. Working in a laboratory and analytical environment, this role evaluates internal, external, and returned samples to determine the source of defects across supplier, production, and finished goods stages. The Engineer II conducts detailed investigations and implements analysis methods to support root cause identification, prepares technical reports, and communicates findings to cross-functional teams to support corrective actions, prevent future defects, and improve overall product safety and reliability. Responsibilities: Analyze structural and design safety risks of lithium-ion battery cell systems using data-driven evaluation methods and advanced analytical tools. Conduct battery failure investigations using precision analysis equipment to identify root causes of product defects, safety concerns, and field failures. Evaluate returned products, buyback samples, and adjacent cells to determine failure propagation and contributing factors impacting battery performance and safety. Conduct reproducibility experiments to validate suspected failure mechanisms and confirm root causes of field quality issues.
