Full Job Description

We are looking for an Embedded Software Development Engineer to build and optimize firmware for Ring's growing portfolio of smart home devices. The ideal candidate is passionate about writing clean, efficient code for embedded platforms and has experience working across the full embedded software stack — from low-level drivers and BSP bring-up to application-layer services. You should be comfortable debugging complex hardware-software interactions and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate across distributed teams in multiple geographies. Key job responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for Ring devices running on RTOS and Linux-based platforms - Own end-to-end debugging and root-cause analysis of system-level issues impacting device performance, power consumption, and customer experience - Drive technical decisions on embedded software architecture, balancing performance, memory footprint, and maintainability - Lead design and code reviews, championing engineering best practices and raising the quality bar across the team - Mentor junior engineers through hands-on technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing - Collaborate with hardware, cloud, mobile, and product teams to define requirements and deliver cohesive, integrated solutions - Proactively identify and address systemic issues that affect device reliability and user satisfaction - Implement diagnostic tooling, metrics, and monitoring to improve system observability and accelerate issue resolution Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, sys
