The Brief

“Embedded Controls Engineer at AnySignal. Skills: Embedded Controls, Firmware Development, Motion Control, C/C++, Real-time Systems. Own the motion control stack from controller design through field performance, including tuning, validation, and long-term reliability. Design, implement, and tune closed-loop control systems (cascaded PID, feedforward, gain scheduling) on real hardware”

What You'll Achieve.

high-accuracy tracking on deployed systems; monitor fleet health and debug remotely; keep performance tight over time and across deployed units

Industry & Context.

Tech / AI / Software
Problems you'll solve

debug at the board level; characterize system dynamics — friction, compliance, inertia — and translate into controller performance

Eligibility Requirements

U. S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U. S. C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U. S. Department of State

What They're Looking For.

Must Have

Real experience closing feedback control loops on real motors — not just simulation, C/C++ on embedded or real-time platforms (RTOS, bare-metal, or RT Linux), Hands-on integration with servo drives, motor controllers, or similar electromechanical systems, Comfortable with hardware interfaces (SPI, CAN, RS-485, EtherCAT, GPIO), Ability to read schematics and debug at the board level, U. S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U. S. C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the necessary authorizations from the U. S. Department of State

Nice to Have

Experience with commercial motion controllers (Galil, Delta Tau, PMAC, or similar), Antenna pointing, telescope tracking, or robotics background, Firmware development for custom PCBs (MCU bring-up, BSP, peripheral drivers), Python for tooling and test automation, Familiarity with satellite orbital mechanics or two-axis mount kinematics

What You'll Do.

Own the motion control stack from controller design through field performance

and long-term reliability

and tune closed-loop control systems (cascaded PID

gain scheduling) on real hardware

Implement trajectory generation and tracking algorithms for high-rate target profiles

Design and develop embedded firmware for a custom motor control board

Integrate with higher-level software systems for scheduling

and remote operations

Instrument the control system for observability — logging

diagnostics — so we can monitor fleet health and debug remotely

Design calibration and self-check routines that keep performance tight over time and across deployed units

Build HIL/SIL test environments and validate control software before field deployment

Characterize system dynamics — friction

inertia — and translate into controller performance

How You'll Work.

Team & Collaboration

Integrate with higher-level software systems for scheduling, telemetry, and remote operations

Full Job Description

COMPANY AnySignal is a startup whose mission is to usher in the next generation of RF products and services. For the most demanding space and defense missions, AnySignal provides a flexible platform with world-class performance that is easy to deploy, monitor, purchase, and upgrade. Our team has a diverse range of backgrounds spanning cloud computing, artificial intelligence, communications and sensing, embedded systems, and more. ABOUT THE ROLE This role spans COTS integration and custom firmware development. You'll commission and tune drive hardware, close loops on real motors, and build embedded software for our own control electronics — all in service of high-accuracy tracking on deployed systems. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own the motion control stack from controller design through field performance, including tuning, validation, and long-term reliability - Design, implement, and tune closed-loop control systems (cascaded PID, feedforward, gain scheduling) on real hardware - Implement trajectory generation and tracking algorithms for high-rate target profiles - Design and develop embedded firmware for a custom motor control board - Integrate with higher-level software systems for scheduling, telemetry, and remote operations - Instrument the control system for observability — logging, metrics, diagnostics — so we can monitor fleet health and debug remotely - Design calibration and self-check routines that keep performance tight over time and across deployed units - Build HIL/SIL test environments and validate control software before field deployment - Characterize system dynamics — friction, compliance, inertia — and translate into controller performance REQUIRED - Real experience closing feedback control loops on real motors — not just simulation - C/C++ on embedded or real-time platforms (RTOS, bare-metal, or RT Linux) - Hands-on integration with servo drives, motor controllers, or similar electromechanical systems - Comfortable with hardware interfaces (SPI, CAN, RS-48
