What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the environmental, health and safety field, 5+ years relevant or equivalent combination of education and experience, 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership, Ability to make strategic decisions while in stressful situations including leading emergency response efforts, Comfortable with, at times, working long hours, weekends, and remaining in an on-call status when required including adjusting work schedule to cover evening/night shift training or to troubleshoot concerns as determined by Plant Management

What You'll Do.
Oversee implementation and management of EHS programs
Conduct annual program reviews
Maintain Environmental Management Systems
Maintain Smithfield Injury Prevention System
Address audit findings promptly
Lead ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification efforts
Manage Process Safety and Risk Management Programs
Coordinate site security plans
Ensure effective healthcare and handling of incidents
Review and monitor incident investigation reports
Participate in claim reviews and mediations
Address EHS incident trends
Train production employees and management
Ensure timely completion of employee exposure surveys
Oversee environmental permit applications
Monitor and enforce compliance with safety programs
Report non-compliance to appropriate individuals
Facilitate necessary corrections or re-training
Ensure training is conducted as required
Maintain compliance with Key Performance Indicators
Communicate action plans to team
