What You'll Do.
Consult with departments on design and use of equipment
Examine plans and specifications for new machinery
Tour plant to inspect fire and safety equipment
Define requirements for safety clothing and devices
Conduct safety training to educate workers
Investigate industrial accidents to minimize recurrence
Conduct air quality tests for presence of harmful gases
Identify health and safety hazards and recommend corrective actions
Serve as internal consultant to business units
Compile and submit safety reports
Administer workers compensation
OSHA 2000 log and return to work program

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the EHS Engineer’s role involves… What a typical day looks like: * Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs. * Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to define if all safety precautions have been included. * Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. * Define requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs or directs installation of safety devices on machinery. * Conducts or coordinates safety training to educate workers about emergency acknowledge, safety policies, laws and practices. * Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports. * Conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors. * In charge of identifying health and safety hazards and recommending corrective actions. * Serves as internal consultant to business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene and fire and chemical safety matters. * Audits business units. * Interfaces with outside vendors, contractors and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals and other workplace health and safety related matters. * Compiles and submits safety reports. * Administers worke
