It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. **Description of Work** This Educational Developmental Assistant (EDA) position is located in Alpine Cottage, with Coed Units. The EDA provides skill training along with the associated documentation requirements in a variety of areas, such as hygiene, grooming, toileting, bathing, dressing, dining, communication, money management, safety awareness, vocational and leisure. The EDA provides direct care services within the building integrating skill development and enhancement within the individual's living and working environment. The EDA also serves as an integral participant in the team process. This position serves in a building of 30 intellectually disabled adults, many of whom have a number of health related illness or other co-existing diagnoses. A scheduled day includes classroom time that is specifically designed to meet each individual's programmatic needs as outlined in his/her Person Centered Plan. This role is responsible for adhering to each person's plan and prescriptive guidelines to staff, health care considerations, formal and informal behavioral plans, supervision guidelines, etc. This position works with multiple individuals in and outside of the classroom to ensure individual's overall well-being, health and safety.
