The District Engineer in the Fayetteville District Office is a pivotal leadership role overseeing operations across Harnett and Cumberland counties. The position manages highway construction contract administration, supervises field work, and directs regulatory operations—including encroachments, subdivision reviews, and driveway permits. Serving as the primary regional liaison, this engineer coordinates maintenance and construction services for local government planning organizations and the public, while driving critical fiscal and personnel decisions. Additional Expectations: A full knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering as related to the location, design, construction and maintenance of highways. Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; interpret plans, provisions, specifications, policies, procedures, regulations and laws as well as strong written and verbal skills. Ability to prepare documents that are legally sound. Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
