Five years of increasingly responsible experience in a management role, Five years of professional wastewater utility industry experience, State Water Resources Control Board Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade IV Certification required, Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Valid California Driver License
Nice to Have
State Water Resources Control Board Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V preferred, Equivalent Wastewater certification from another state and the ability to obtain California Grade IV Certification in 18 months may be considered, California Water Environmental Association Grade IV Collection System Operator Certification desired
What You'll Do.
Oversee Cal Water Wastewater Compliance Operations
Perform the role of Chief Wastewater Treatment Plant
Maintain compliance with all local
Develop professional relationships with regulatory agencies
Ensure all wastewater treatment plants effluent meet NPDES
Ensure compliance with all other Federal and State
Represent CWSG in agency inspections
Manage internal audit program
Implement necessary corrective actions
Oversee recycled water compliance programs
Assist other departments with recycled water matters
Provide input for strategic goals
Stay on top of existing and upcoming regulations
Participate in regulatory review
Lead strategic planning to ensure compliance
Participate in budgeting
Ensure established guidelines are met
Collaborate to develop emergency response plans
Implement emergency response plans
Develop projects which improve efficiency
Optimize wastewater quality
Optimize recycled water quality
Optimize collection system operations
Minimize sanitary sewer overflows
Prepare planning documents
Prepare technical documents
Conduct research for treatment optimization
Conduct research for decision-making
Conduct regular meetings with wastewater plants management
Provide support to wastewater plants management
Provide oversight for wastewater compliance training program
Conduct training as necessary
Review engineering plans
Participate in establishment of specifications
Ensure industry best practices are included

Represent CWSG Wastewater Operations to external organizations

The Director of Wastewater Compliance acts as the primary liaison between executive management and wastewater operational teams for all matters related to the National Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) compliance. The Director of Wastewater Compliance reports to the VP of Water Quality and will be responsible for overseeing all of California Water Service Group (CWSG) Wastewater and the Water Recycled Water Compliance programs across the business; ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory and environmental protection requirements company wide.
