What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Degree qualification in Legal, Accounting or Tax, CPA, CA or Masters of Tax, Extensive tax experience within a large Australian listed outbound organisation, background in Australian tax compliance, tax provisioning and statutory reporting, Working knowledge of global tax concepts and cross‑border arrangements, Experience with Australian R&D tax incentive frameworks, Understanding of transfer pricing in a commercial environment, Exposure to reporting systems and ERP platforms, Ability to communicate technical tax matters in a clear and practical way
Nice to Have
SAP experience, Experience leading change or process improvement initiatives

This role sits within the Finance function and reports to the Vice President Global Tax & Treasury. It leads Cochlear’s global tax capability across compliance, reporting and governance, with accountability for how tax is managed across a complex, multi‑jurisdictional environment. The successful Director, Group Tax will operate across both strategic and operational contexts. The role shapes how tax supports commercial decisions, ensures regulatory obligations are met across all regions, and maintains a clear and well‑managed global tax risk profile. There is also a clear mandate to evolve the function. The role leads the digital transformation of tax, leveraging AI, advanced analytics and scalable technology to improve insight, efficiency and risk management across the global business. **Key Responsibilities** * Own and lead the global Group Tax function, covering compliance, reporting, advisory and governance across all jurisdictions * Provide tax input into key business initiatives, ensuring impacts are understood and managed across the organisation * Oversee Australian tax obligations including income tax
