Full Job Description
## Description The Director of Finance leads the financial planning and oversight of SCMC's full competition cycle, from budget forecasting through final reconciliation. This portfolio is responsible for ensuring SCMC operates within its CUS funding allocation while coordinating with external partners and internal teams to maintain a balanced budget and smoothly run competition. ## Time Commitment 5–10 hours per week (up to 20 hours/week during October–December) ## Term of Employment June 2026 – March 2027 ## Main Responsibilities Lead the creation of budget proposals and optimal spending models to present to CUS Budget Committee with forecasted revenue and expenses of SCMC 2025/26 Oversee all reimbursements, including CUS and AMS requests related to competition expenses, ensuring proper documentation, timely processing, and providing regular budget updates Collaborate with the SCMC External Relations team to seek additional financial support and monetary sponsorships from firms and businesses Track actual expenditures and communicate budgetary concerns as they arise Research alternative cost-cutting and revenue-generating options for the competition and develop implementation plans ## Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication, including competitor memos and stakeholder-facing materials Strong understanding of capital markets and corporate finance concepts Strong analytical and research skills with a high level of attention to detail Collaborative, willing to take initiative, and comfortable enforcing timelines and quality standards Background in budgeting, accounting, or administrative roles is an asset Familiarity with reimbursement processes and banking is an asset Experience with case competitions, finance recruiting, or case writing is an asset ## Anticipated Learning Outcomes Gain hands-on experience managing a real budget from forecasting through reconciliation, including CUS and AMS reimbursement processes Develop financial modelling and sc
