Full Job Description
Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we’ve designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. As a Development Lab Technician III on the Project Kuiper DevOps team, you will bring a strong base of hands-on skills in mechanical or electrical disciplines to support complex development hardware tasks. You will work semi-autonomously on test setups, prototype builds, and tool/process improvements alongside Lab Engineers, and will play a key role in maintaining a safe, functional, and scalable development lab. Key job responsibilities - Independently execute electrical and mechanical tasks such as harness routing, basic machining, assembly, and test fixture wiring. - Set up and operate equipment with moderate complexity (e.g., bench-top mills, soldering stations, oscilloscopes, DAQ systems). - Perform functional checks, basic debug, and assist in root cause analysis with engineers. - Interpret moderately complex drawings, schematics, and build instructions. - Support development article fabrication and document feedback on fit/form/function issues. - Mentor Tech IIs or cross-train others on specialized procedures or equipment. - Help improve and define lab procedures, support 6S/Kaizen activities, and maintain tooling/supply readiness. - Maintain high standards for lab safety, data cleanliness, and documentation practices.
