TxDOT's Austin District North Travis Area Office is looking for a Development & Access Management Engineer (Transportation Engineer) II, III, IV or V located in Austin, Texas . The Development & Access Permitting Engineer assists with the review and coordination of development and access permit applications impacting the state highway system in Austin, Texas. This role assembles complete permit packages, evaluates traffic control plans, traffic impact analyses, construction phasing, and proposed improvements, and delivers clear, accurate review comments. The Engineer manages multiple permit applications at once, maintains up‑to‑date tracking, and ensures all submittals meet TxDOT access management requirements and include the necessary forms and documentation. The position works closely with applicants, consultants, and TxDOT divisions—such as Hydraulics, Traffic, and Environmental—to resolve comments, clarify requirements, and ensure consistent application of policies. The Engineer also provides technical guidance on TxDOT permitting processes and access management standards to both internal and external stakeholders.
