Our partner is looking for a Database Reliability Engineer based in the Netherlands. This role sits at the core of a high-traffic, fast-scaling digital environment serving tens of millions of users each week. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of a modern, cloud-native database ecosystem built from the ground up using cutting-edge technologies. Working within a specialized DBRE and DevOps team, you will help design and evolve highly available data systems that support rapid international expansion. The environment is highly engineering-driven, with strong emphasis on automation, observability, and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in shaping database architecture decisions, improving system resilience, and enabling safe, fast product releases across regions. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who enjoys solving complex data challenges at scale. ## Accountabilities Design, build, and maintain highly available and scalable database architectures supporting global, multi-region platforms Take ownership of production database operations including schema changes, data migrations, deployments, and incident resolution Improve performance, reliability, and scalability through tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery optimization Develop automation tools and internal platforms using Go and/or Python to reduce manual operations and improve system efficiency Monitor database health and define alerting strategies based on SLI/SLO frameworks to proactively detect and prevent incidents Collaborate closely with development teams to support query optimization, schema design, and troubleshooting Implement and maintain robust backup, recovery, replication, and security strategies across relational and NoSQL databases Conduct regular security audits and ensure compliance with databas
