AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Science, Services, Infrastructure, and Innovation (S2I2) Engineering team builds measurement, intelligence, and decision-support systems that embed sustainability into how AWS designs, procures, and operates its infrastructure. We own the data products that power sustainability decisions across AWS — from life-cycle assessments and material flow analysis to carbon allocation models and service-level sustainability profiles. In 2019, Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge and made a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040 — 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement.
