What You'll Do.
Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping.
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

**Labcorp is seeking a Cytogenetic Technologist Trainee to join our team in Santa Fe, NM. ** **Work Schedules: Sunday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm and Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.** **Training Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm** **This role comes with a $1,000 sign-on bonus** **New Grads Welcome – Full Training Provided** **Job Responsibilities** * Perform routine procedures including tissue culture, harvesting, slide making and banding, automated karyotyping, reagent preparation, and FISH processing, probing, and scoping. * Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria * Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures * Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality * Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. * Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls * Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care * Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures * Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary * Assist with processing of specimens when needed * Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment **Minimum Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology **Preferred Qualification:** * Current or prior Labcorp experience * ASCP or AMT certification **Additional Job Standards** * Previous clinical laboratory testing experience * Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems * Ability to work independently and within a team environment * High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills * Able to pass a standardized color blindness test At Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live
