On Call: Yes, weekend and holiday rotations required, flat rate $5/hr for call, $3/hour weekend shift differential, 18%-night shift differential, when applicable
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
current basic life support certification, certification as a surgical technologist, one to two years of experience in a surgical technologist role, registered with State Regulatory Agency, scrub proficiently on a minimum of two surgical specialties, manual dexterity, ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations, ability to be conscientious, organized, and orderly, ability to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient

What You'll Do.
Prepare for surgical procedures
Pull appropriate instruments and supplies
Ensure good working order of instruments
Review case carts for correct instruments and supplies
Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment
Check schedule and plan ahead
Anticipate the surgeon's needs
Pass instruments and retract tissue
Maintain competency to scrub
Demonstrate principles of aseptic technique
Dispose of sharps and trash
Place used supplies into case cart
Participate in counting sharps
instruments and sponges
Prepare instruments for cleaning
Ensure surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate
Assist with OR turnover between cases
Participate in stocking
replenishing supplies
Clean operating rooms
Participate in training and orientation
Provide business support to the department
Follow safety procedures
Perform time-out procedure
Participate in emergency call rotation
Assist physician with advanced tasks

Internal customers are patients, surgeons, and nursing staff; External customers may include practicing physicians, patient families and vendors or sales reps
