Full Job Description

Job Overview The Crossing Guard will provide assistance to children and other pedestrians in crossing at specified streets along school routes and perform related work as required. This incumbent is assigned to locations near schools or along adjacent streets to protect children from traffic when crossing and to present a safety enforcement presence to passing motorists. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Assemble children and other pedestrians behind curb lines, awaiting traffic gaps or signal changes Interrupt traffic and escorts pedestrians into the street allowing them to cross safely Instruct children in proper procedures for safe street crossing Direct traffic movement and warn of hazards, using signs and hand signals Stop traffic as necessary Communication Report students who do not adhere to safe street crossing procedures to appropriate school officials Communicate traffic and crossing rules and other information to students and adults Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily.
