Instructor for Course ARCH 303 / Design and Construction 1 . **Calendar Description:** An exploration of the design of buildings. Projects emphasize the major social, technological, environmental, and symbolic aspects of the design process. Introduction to specific modelling, presentation, and documentation techniques. Discussions, readings, field trips and practical exercises**.** **CACB SPC: A1, A5, A6, A7, A8,** **Topic and themes:** Design of low-rise multi-family housing complex that explores integration of social aspects, communal features, affordability and sustainability aspects. The project begins with precedent studies and design theory (A1) which is covered through lectures by the instructors. A5 & A6 , program, site analysis, form the basis of a design proposal and urban design (A6). A7 detail design and A8 documentation (i.e., drawings, models) are required for the presentations and the assessments (i.e. midterm and final reviews). **TQR:** M.
