Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).** McGill’s School of Information Studies Master’s program () is seeking Course Lecturers to teach courses for Fall 2026. **INFS 609 Metadata and Access (3 credits**) _Course Description_ : The course presents fundamental theories and practices of organizing and describing e- resources in libraries, archives, and related fields. It covers prevailing metadata schemes, extensible markup language (XML) and the metadata application profile. It also discusses issues related to the management of metadata schemes in cultural heritage institutions. _Learning Outcomes_ : * To identify the characteristics of metadata as descriptive tools for organizing digital resources. * To recognize various metadata schemes in diverse communities. * To understand the strengths and weaknesses of major metadata schemes. * To enable to develop a metadata application profile in an institutional context. * To recognize the important issues related to metadata management and implementation in institutional settings. Archival descriptive tools in metadata-based access systems. Metadata schemas (MARC, Dublin Core and EAD), markup languages (SGML, HTML, and XML), DTD, vocabulary control, and metadata management issues _._ _Teaching Qualification Requirements:_ The course lecturer should have successfully completed courses in information studies at the graduate level, including the courses on metadata and access.
