The primary purpose of this organizational unit is to build, maintain, improve and provide a safe highway transportation system in a highway division within the approved budget and consistent with all laws and regulations governing the State Highway System. The primary purpose of this position is to manage, plan, organize, coordinate, supervise and direct various aspects of Highway Maintenance operations including force accounts and purchase order contract construction. This position manages these activities within budgetary constraints and organizes/directs the safety program for the assigned counties. Duties include responding to inquiries from the public, DOT Management, Media, etc., regarding DOT policies and procedures, division projects, plans and proposed work. This position has Emergency Call Back status and must be able to respond to Highway emergencies and work during inclement weather events. Level II erosion control certification is required within one year of hire.
