Full Job Description

Job Overview Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Transportation — Student Safety & Support, the Special Services Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and execution of specialized transportation services. This includes routing and services for students receiving Special Education, Section 504 accommodations, and McKinney‑Vento services. The coordinator ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant transportation of students with unique needs by developing routes, maintaining required documentation, and collaborating with district departments, campuses, and families. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Coordination & Compliance Leadership Serve as the district coordinator for Special Education, Section 504, and McKinney‑Vento transportation services. Review ARD/IEP documents, Section 504 plans, and McKinney‑Vento determinations to ensure transportation services are implemented accurately. Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, McKinney‑Vento, and Texas Education Agency (TEA) transportation guidelines. Monitor specialized transportation service delivery to ensure district procedures are followed consistently. Develop, update, and communicate procedures and guidelines related to specialized transportation programs. Interdepartmental Collaboration & Communication Serve as the primary liaison between Transportation, Special Education, Student Support Services, the McKinney‑Vento/Homeless Department, and campus administration. Participate in ARD meetings when transportation considerations are involved. Provide guidance to campus and district staff regarding eligibility determinations, service requirements, and transportation procedures. Communicate transportation service changes to teachers, case managers, homeless liaisons, and school leadership. Specialized Routing Oversight Oversee the development and maintenance of specialized transportation routes using TransFinder or other district routing systems. Review
