Must Have
Significant and applicable experience as a Contamination Control Technician, Mechanical technicians skilled in proper clean room operations, Working knowledge of industry standards and applicable ASTMs, Clean room operations, Clean room facility cleaning, inspection and maintenance, Electrostatic discharge (ESD) training and operational awareness, Hardware cleaning and inspection methods, Troubleshooting, Willingness to learn, Communicating across disciplines and technical knowledge levels, Work both in a team environment and on your own, Accepting directions from more experienced CC technicians and contamination control engineers, Collaborate with engineers in various disciplines, as well technicians and management staff
Nice to Have
Engineering, Math, Physics, Spacecraft, Optical or aerospace hardware, Attention to detail, Troubleshooting, Materials, Processes, Coatings, Planetary protection (biology), Outgassing, Offgassing, Vacuum systems, Knowledge of the space environment (vacuum, particulate and electromagnetic radiation, thermal, atomic oxygen), Basic laboratory and solvent handling skills

These processes include detailed precision cleaning of flight hardware and critical ground support equipment, protective packaging to maintain cleanliness, and routine maintenance of controlled environments. Communication across disciplines is crucial to ensuring compatibility of these processes with the ongoing needs of the product designers and assemblers. You may assist in troubleshooting and solving contamination problems encountered when developing and building spacecraft and instruments. This is mainly on site at GSFC, with possible local and distant off-site work. Brief travel may be required. **Requirements** **Education** : High School or higher **Preferred Disciplines:** Engineering, Math or Physics **Required Skills & Experience:** The successful candidate will have significant and applicable experience as a Contamination Control Technician, including Mechanical technicians skilled in proper clean room operations, preferably for spacecraft, optical or aerospace hardware. A working knowledge of industry standards and applicable ASTMs is necessary. Quality and breadth of experience are more important than simple years of experience. This position requires ~10 years of experience with clean room operations, clean room facility cleaning, inspection and maintenance, electrostatic discharge (ESD) training and operational awareness, hardware cleaning and inspection methods, and troubleshooting.
