## Description Field Surveyor Location: Virginia or Maryland Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire Compensation: Starting at $30.00/hour+ (higher compensation available based on experience and technical expertise) Overview We are seeking an experienced Field Surveyor to support structural steel projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. This role is primarily field-based and involves collecting precise survey data, ensuring proper alignment, and supporting steel installation activities. Candidates must be comfortable traveling to job sites and working in active construction environments. ## Primary Responsibilities Perform field surveys and collect accurate site measurements for construction and installation activities. Establish layout points, control lines, column locations, and anchor bolt positioning. Verify elevations, embeds, dimensions, and structural alignment throughout project execution. Assist project teams with steel installation and layout accuracy. Prepare and update as-built documentation based on field conditions. Work closely with contractors and other trades to maintain proper positioning and alignment of structural components. Support the installation of structural and miscellaneous steel elements, including stairs, shafts, and related assemblies. Utilize industry software and technology including Trimble equipment, Bluebeam, CAD applications, and Microsoft Office products. Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures. ## Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience in field surveying, construction layout, or structural steel erection. Experience performing layout work involving grades, elevations, slopes, and structural steel components. Proficiency using total stations or similar survey instruments. Knowledge of structural alignment practices and industry standards. Ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the region.
