What They're Looking For.
Must Have
1 to 2 years of experience investigating unusual activity and filing of regulatory reports related to AML, CTF, Fraud Investigations, Substantive knowledge of AML and fraud regulations and related typologies within the fintech industry, Experience in identifying and analysing patterns in transactional behaviour and determining if regulatory reporting is required, Experience in identifying unusual patterns of activity and escalating for potential risk mitigation, Experience working in a compliance-driven environment while ensuring a positive customer experience, Must have a relevant industry (Associate-Level ) certification, Experience in contributing to operational compliance programs, Direct experience in either fintech or the financial industry, Fluency in written and spoken English is essential for this role
Nice to Have
Proficiency a second language, especially in Hebrew, Portuguese and/or Japanese is an advantage
What You'll Do.
Investigating suspicious and high-risk activities identified in customer accounts
Reviewing unusual activity within customer profiles that may be related to money laundering or fraud
Reviewing investigations escalated from other Remitly teams and third party AML investigators
Conducting complex investigations
Submitting SAR filings where necessary
Investigating and responding to law enforcement requests on an ad hoc basis
Identifying customer-related trends
patterns and issues associated with money laundering
terrorist financing and other unwanted and fraudulent transaction activity
Evaluating internal reports and related filters to confirm Remitly is monitoring its customer base for compliance with the terms of its user agreement and regulatory requirements
Suggesting updates to transaction monitoring rules based on trends identified
Identifying process improvements for existing procedures
Leading process/efficiency improvement processes
including design and implementation
Ingesting guidance from relevant financial intelligence units
Helping operationalize new or changed processes as needed to meet regulatory expectations
Operationalizing transaction monitoring and AML investigative practices needed to launch new products and jurisdictions
Ensuring compliance with Remitly’s Anti-Money Laundering policies and procedures
Learning and sharing knowledge in a global team environment
Assisting with training and oversight of new investigators
other teams supporting AML investigations
including oversight of third party AML investigations
Other ad hoc duties as required
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Work closely with cross-functional teams at Remitly regarding these investigations, including Customer Service, Compliance, Legal, Product, and third party sites supporting AML investigations; Work with Product teams, Product Compliance, and Compliance Officers to operationalize transaction monitoring and AML investigative practices needed to launch new products and jurisdictions; Learn and share knowledge in a global team environment; Assisting with training and oversight of new investigators, other teams supporting AML investigations, including oversight of third party AML investigations
Communication Scope

As an online money transmitter, Remitly is growing while maintaining high customer service, performance and compliance standards. Remitly is a licensed financial services company in several jurisdictions. Each of these jurisdictions requires, among other items, that Remitly maintain a comprehensive Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorist Financing and Fraud Investigative program. The Compliance Analyst will assist by completing high-risk case investigations & completing regulatory filings. They will participate in deep dive investigations, review case escalations and perform quality checks on regulatory reports, as well as identify areas for better processes or risk management.
