One year of experience in commercial lines underwriting, Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business administration, or equivalent relevant experience, Occasional a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving

Nice to Have

Insurance designations, such as CPCU preferred, Candidates that exceed the minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position, Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business administration, or equivalent relevant experience, Three years of experience in commercial lines underwriting or related experience, Insurance designations, such as AINS, AU, CIC, or CPCU preferred

What You'll Do.

Maintains and grows a profitable book of business for assigned middle market territory adhering to underwriting authority.

Evaluates accounts for risk selection and pricing purposes.

reports from Premium Audit or Loss Control and other relevant information to underwrite policies.

Offers appropriate coverage

terms and conditions for exposures.

Develops and fosters agency relationships.

Educates agents on EMC products

underwriting appetite

Visits agencies to discuss accounts and provide agents with updates at EMC.

Collaborates with marketing representatives to ensure agents receive excellent customer experiences

and select EMC as their insurer of choice.

Effectively communicates risk acceptance and/or rejection decisions to agents.

Collaborates with experienced underwriters to continue to develop understanding of company and regional risk appetite.

Consults experienced underwriters to ask questions and gain understanding in underwriting best practices.

Participates in the agency planning and review processes with marketing and regional management.

Monitors progress of assigned agents and guides agents in achieving annual goals.
