Must Have
qualified lawyer and member in good standing with a provincial and/or state bar, BC or California preferred, 5+ years of corporate and commercial experience as a generalist effectively supporting business in an in-house role, Exceptional integrity and the ability to work on a wide range of legal matters with a wide variety of internal clients, Highly collaborative, intellectually curious, to learn from and grow with the business, Detail-oriented with excellent judgment, to provide business-oriented advice while mitigating risks, prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with complex and demanding deadlines, and comfortable working without administrative support, Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written, concisely and professionally with all levels of the organization, Experience advising cross-functional teams on a broad range of commercial, operational, and strategic matters, with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives
Nice to Have
Familiarity with the entertainment, gaming, or technology sectors is considered an asset, including an understanding of digital products, intellectual property, licensing arrangements, data governance, and evolving regulatory considerations, Exposure to emerging issues related to artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and data usage is a plus, including the ability to support the business in responsibly adopting new technologies while managing legal and regulatory risks
What You'll Do.
Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements: Review, draft and negotiate a diverse range of commercial agreements, including technology and cloud services, professional services, marketing or advertising services, and other business agreements., Manage corporate and business governance processes: Develop and implement corporate governance best practices, including board communications, and corporate record-keeping., Managing Regulatory Compliance: Develop and manage organizational policies, frameworks and processes to ensure internal compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and business rules., Support business partners on a wide variety of legal questions and guidance: Analyze issues, propose and communicate solutions to help business partners to mitigate risks., Management of legal and contractual aspects of all of company’s commercial activities., Analyzing risk management for the company by being the legal subject matter expert: Identification and evaluation of potential risks to the company., Managing Intellectual Property: Management and protection of company’s IP portfolio, supporting company’s long term goals., Internal Control Relating to Financial Reporting Responsibilities: Approve wire transfer and cheque payments., Consultation of Other Corporate Topics: Merger and acquisition matters.
Corporate governance (e.

Office space and sublease matters (construction and commercial real estate).
