Associate's degree in Health Record Technology, Two years of professional coding experience, Obtain CPC, RHIT, or RHIA within 18 months, Three years of professional coding experience, Four to five years of professional coding experience, Two years of general surgery coding

CPC, RHIT, or RHIA credentials
What You'll Do.
Verify medical record documentation
Analyze encounter form documentation
Assign diagnostic codes
Assign procedural codes
Resolve discrepancies
Serve as liaison between CBO and sites
Assist in orientation of new employees
Assist in training of new employees
Review office based electronic charges
Review encounter forms for completion
Review encounter forms for accuracy
Code and enter charges
Review physician documentation of surgical procedures
Assign and enter billing codes
Identify applicable diagnosis procedures
Identify applicable codes
Ensure charges are coded within two business days
Ensure charges are entered within two business days
Identify educational needs
Identify compliance issues

Resolve coding discrepancies
