## Description Machinist (CNC) Location: Baltimore, MD Job Type: Contract to Hire Pay rate: Starting at $28/hour (higher based on experience) We are hiring a skilled Machinist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a well-established fabrication and machine shop. This role offers hands-on work with CNC milling, turning, and precision component manufacturing in a fast-paced environment. ## What You’ll Do Set up and operate multi-axis CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines Interpret blueprints, job travelers, and technical instructions Produce precision parts to tight tolerances (± .002") Inspect completed components using standard measuring tools Make program edits and assist in creating CNC programs as needed Develop and refine fixturing and setups for repeat production runs Troubleshoot machining and setup issues with minimal supervision Maintain workflow efficiency and adhere to production timelines Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area ## What We’re Looking For 3+ years of CNC programming experience 4–5 years of experience with machine setup and fixturing Familiarity with SolidWorks CAM Pro Strong understanding of tooling selection, feeds and speeds, and machining techniques Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel ## Additional Experience Preferred Hands-on experience with lathes, drilling, grinding, milling, and hand tools Ability to perform basic machine maintenance Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate on process improvements
