What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Claims Adjusters License required, Bachelor's degree, or four or more years of equivalent work experience, At least 3 or more years’ experience handling New York State lost time workers compensation construction claims, Familiarity with medical terminology, organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team, Ability to analyze data and make sound decisions, verbal and written communication skills, Computer literacy, including working knowledge of MS Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Ability to travel for business purposes, less than 15%
Nice to Have
Associate in Claims (AIC) Designation or similar professional designation desired, Knowledge of OSHA construction standards, Knowledge of NYS labor Law §240, Knowledge of Claim Center a plus

Investigate assigned claims
Determine coverage and compensability
Ensure timely denial or payment of benefits
Establish and adjust reserves
Negotiate claims settlements
Develop and execute return to work strategies
Select and manage service vendors
Maintain working knowledge of New York State requirements
