What You'll Achieve.
Assure projects and products meet the required performance and quality; Ensure progression only with well understood and acceptable levels of technical risk and technical debt

Resolve/facilitate resolution of engineering conflict on project; Provides sounding board for projects (security, process, technical issues…)
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain, and maintain, DV security clearance, Candidates may need to obtain the relevant security clearance or handle export-controlled material, Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance for the role, Must be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Significant experience in one (or more preferably), software, firmware, hardware or systems engineering, Expert knowledge of the V-model, Goodest practice engineering process, Extensive experience in technical leadership, Managing delivery of multi-disciplined engineering projects, Willing and able to obtain, and maintain, DV security clearance
Nice to Have
Independent Chief Engineer on a project, Design Authority on a project
What You'll Do.
Oversight for multiple large
Assurance of project adherence to requirements
Oversight for high quality design
Maintain visibility of upcoming bids
Build proposal and costings
Review technical proposals
Contribute towards strategy alignment
Agree engineering design process for bids
Ensure compliance with regulations
Support BD gate review process
Assure agreed engineering design process is followed
Ensure analysis of regulations
Chair Engineering Design Reviews
Oversee management of technical risks
Review project engineering metrics
Assure projects and products meet performance
Accountable for Project Engineering Change Control
Review project engineering documentation
Approve technical documents
Provide Design Assurance
Customer/stakeholder point of contact
Provide sounding board for projects
Resolve/facilitate resolution of engineering conflict
Escalate issues through Engineering chain
Progressing security concerns
Assure adherence to Security Aspects Letter
Provide guidance on SAL appropriateness
Provide Safety assurance
Act as Authority interface
Mentoring of senior engineers
Provide input to technical strategy
Capturing project knowledge
Provide sounding board for project
How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholders at all levels; Work with BD to build proposal and costings; Consulting with the relevant Heads of Discipline; Support BD gate review process; Supporting the project team in preparation and delivery of Technical Project Reviews; Customer/stakeholder point of contact for Engineering aspects; Provides sounding board for projects; Resolve/facilitate resolution of engineering conflict on project; Escalate issues through Engineering chain; Working with BD & Innovation to provide input to technical strategy; Independent Chief Engineer on a project, to provide independent oversight; Providing a sounding board for the project Chief Engineer
Communication Scope
Confident communicator, both written and verbal; Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholders at all levels in the organisation
