Full Job Description
**Job Responsibilities** The Chemical Operator is responsible for maintaining safety, plant production, operating efficiency and regulatory compliance * Follows and encourages others to follow all organizational safety rules and practices. * Fosters & maintains a positive work environment. * Performs basic tasks interacting with pumps, pipes, valves, and HMIs to prepare and charge material into the manufacturing batch process. * Operates a forklift to load/unload trailers and transport materials. * Performs basic lab testing. * Counts and report inventory daily and assist monthly inventory counts. * Folows and perform lock out tag out (LOTO) for maintenance work on equipment. * Maintain work area in a clean, organized, and safe environment. * Maintain accurate records including batch sheets, lab data entries, and shift turnover documents. * Recommends methods to improve production methods and equipment. * Assists others in troubleshooting problems. * Performs other duties as assigned. **Candidate Qualifications/ Requirements** * Basic computer literacy. * Strong mechanical aptitude. * Previous chemical plant experience preferred. * Ability to climb steps, stairs, and ladders on a repetitive basis. * Basic computer literacy. * Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations necessary for position’s essential duties. * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. * Ability to follow instructions and work independently * Reliable transportation for attendance required. * Dependability and Punctuality are key ingredients to be successful in this position. _Koppers Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers.
