What They're Looking For.
Must Have
A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline., A professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE., Experience of working with key clients such as Transport Scotland and National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities as well as major Contractors and Developers., Good understanding of relevant design standards (e. g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards)., Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment., Experience of structural analysis software packages such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design., Proven knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structures related projects together with a track record of innovation in design and management of highway structures., interpersonal skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines., Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types. This will include an ability to manage stakeholders, e. g. specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.

Managing the production and review of high-quality design documentation
Carrying out technical work independently.
Providing guidance to junior staff members.
Leading teams in the design
and maintenance of structural projects.
Providing structures related input on multi-disciplinary projects.
Developing and agreeing scopes.
Managing the internal technical supply chain
programme and quality of deliverables.
Deriving potential solutions to engineering problems.
Appraising different options and recommending the most suitable option.
Leading bids and tenders.
Developing Client relationships.

Team & Collaboration
