ONE WEEK ON-CALL position every four to five weeks, On call hours: Wednesday to Wednesday, 3 p. m. - 7 a. m. , Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours, Occasionally commute to Lakeland St. Joseph hospital.
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Bible, Theology, religion, pastoral care, ministry practicum, psychology or counseling, 2 years of relevant experience providing spiritual care in a hospital, agency or congregation, Ordination / commissioning or endorsement for chaplaincy by own religious judicatory.
Nice to Have
Healthcare experience, Master's Degree in Divinity or Arts in Theology with concentration in pastoral care, Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
What You'll Do.
Provides spiritual care
education and spiritualotional support to patients
families and staff members of all faiths and traditions.
Assists with referrals to particular faith group leaders when indicated and/or requested.
Provides spiritual care and emotional support to patients
Facilitates their spiritual understanding
emotional coping and adjustment in the face of illness
Identifies and engages additional spiritual providers and resources
either within or beyond our organization
when this is requested and beneficial.
Documents clearly her/his interactions with patients and families--including assessments and plans--in a manner which is useful to departmental and interdisciplinary colleagues.
Collaborates closely with departmental colleagues in providing seamless spiritual care by receiving referrals
making following-up visits and providing hand-off reports.
Integrates her/his professional practice and style into assigned interdisciplinary healthcare teams in ways that enhance their overall efforts to provide excellent
Prioritizes emergent (sometimes concurrent) referrals while not losing sight of certain regular duties.
Manages time well across successive shifts which can vary widely in their demands.
Maintains and applies a working knowledge of medical ethics.
Recognizes when ethical principles could or do conflict in actual cases.
Recognizes moral distress in care givers.
Knows how to initiate an ethics consultation.
Able to facilitate advance care planning conversations and decision-making.
