Full Job Description

Follows proper technique when administering medications and completes medication pass safely within the allotted time frame 100% of the time. Documents appropriately and accurately all medications passed and follows established standards and guidelines of the nursing department. Maintains appropriate supplies and equipment on the medication carts and alerts charge nurse with the need for any supplies or medications in a timely manner. Ensures that the medication cart remains locked and is properly stocked and cleaned at the beginning and end of each shift. Monitors residents’ responses to medication and reports observations to Charge Nurse. Administers PRN medication with Charge Nurse approval. Continues to monitor the residents' responses to the PRN medication throughout the assigned shift and reports any uncommon behaviors or side effects to the charge nurse. Works with Charge Nurse to reorder any medications that may be dropped, spilled, or wasted. Works safely and uses proper procedures to minimize loss and ensure the protection of assigned residents. Successfully completes job duties as CMT by attending continuing education classes and in-services, accepting reassignments to other areas, taking on increased responsibilities, and keeping RN and LPN informed of pertinent information that may require follow-up.
