What You'll Do.
Transport goods and freight
Complete pre/post trip inspection
Inspect load for securement
Notify dispatch if load not secured
Use straps/load locks for securement
Review BOL for accuracy
Complete electronic DVIR
Contact maintenance for repairs/inspections/certifications
Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs
Contact safety and dispatch after safety incident
Complete monthly Near Miss documentation
Perform on-time pick-up and delivery
Utilize onboard TMS system
Comply with traffic laws and FMCSR regulations
Communicate effectively with dispatchers
Monitor weather and road conditions
Manage cargo securement and load distribution
Complete and submit daily trip sheet
Submit weekly documentation
Communicate professionally with stakeholders
Open/close trailer doors
Adjust trailer pin height
Adapt quickly to road conditions
Work weekends as needed
Load and unload trailers
Pick/Pack materials for shipping
Utilize powered equipment per facility rules
Maintain accurate inventory counts
Perform physical inventories
Assist in breaking down gaylords
Assist other drivers/material handlers
Shuttle equipment to repair location
Open doors utilizing Trailer door strap
Chain tires due to inclement weather

# **Job Description** Job Description **PURPOSE:** To detail specific tasks and responsibilities for the position of **YARD TRUCK DRIVER** in order for those persons holding this position to perform their job as safely, effectively, and efficiently as possible. **2.0 SCOPE:** This document is used from date of hire throughout training and as a reference for the YardTruck Driver for tasks to be completed. **_This document is not all inclusive._** **3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:** 3.1 Transport goods and freight from one location to another using a truck or tractor-trailer. 3.2 Complete a pre/post trip inspection on tractor and trailer before and after each trip to ensure safety and functionality. 3.3 Inspect load to ensure cargo is properly loaded and secured 3.4 If load is not properly secured notify dispatch and if necessary use straps/load locks for securement 3.5 Review BOL for accuracy 3.6 Plan the route, fueling location, safe haven, breaks, and deliveries to meet customer requirements and deadlines. 3.7 Complete electronic DVIR via ELD for any deficiencies identified during pre/post trip 3.8 Contact maintenance team and Penske repair hotline when repairs/inspections/certifications are needed for tractor or trailer. 3.9 Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs with local Lease provider (Penske/Ryder) 3.10 Contact safety and dispatch immediately after a safety incident (follow Company Accident/Incident process) 3.11 Complete monthly Near Miss documentation 3.12 On-Time pick-up and Delivery from consignee 3.13 Utilize onboard TMS system for dispatch and communication purposes 3.14 Comply with all traffic laws and FMCSR regulations, including hours of service restrictions. 3.15 Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other transportation personnel. 3.16 Monitor weather and road conditions to adjust driving accordingly. 3.17 Manage cargo securement and load distribution to prevent damage or accidents. 3.18 Complete and submit daily trip sheet 3.19 Submit weekly a
