What You'll Do.

Assist physician and nursing personnel with orthopedic casting

Apply and remove casts and splints

Support medical staff with routine examination and treatment

Provide continuity of post-op care casting

Document all treatments in patients’ medical records

Administer medication

Assist with medical supplies and equipment during minor

Maintain appropriate par level of supplies

Keep examination rooms and cast rooms fully stocked

Clean rooms after each patient

Maintain coding procedures for modalities and supplies utilized

Facilitate patient flow

Assist physician and nursing personnel in coordinating patient

Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures

Safeguard University assets

Fit patients with orthotic devices

Assist physician with minor procedures in clinic

Perform vital signs effectively

Prepare medications and medical supplies for minor office/clinic

Maintain an appropriate level of supplies

Place orders in a timely manner

Assist physician in obtaining pertinent medical information

Monitor patient progress undergoing diagnostic testing

Prepare for clinic the previous day

Ensure notes and test results are available

Draw medications for injections

Help team efficiently keep clinic flow

Ensure providers have all information needed

Respect confidentiality of all patient

Use complete discretion

The Cast Technician assists in the removal of casts, splints, and braces, and works with orthopedic technicians to instruct patients in caring for their injuries, understanding and adjusting traction equipment, and adjusting crutches, walkers, and other aids. **CORE JOB FUNCTIONS** 1\. Assists physician and nursing personnel with orthopedic casting procedures, including the application and removal of a variety of casts and splints. 2\. Supports medical staff with routine examination and treatment procedures such as removing casts, cleaning wounds, and applying dressings. 3\.
