Full Job Description
North America Surface Transportation is looking for an innovative, results-oriented and strategic Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) individual who is comfortable diving into complex problems and can develop solutions to recommend business decisions. The person in this role will have an organization-wide view of analytical solutions and you consistently think in terms of automating or expanding the results company-wide. In this role, you will conduct analytics using SQL and Python, and build lightweight tools and methods for others to replicate and scale their work. In this role, you will deal with large and complex data sets, build self-service dashboards and use visualization tools especially QuickSight. Key job responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain automated reporting, dashboards (especially QuickSight), and analyses to enable our team to self-service of data needs, allowing you to focus on answering hard and ambiguous problems. - Write high-quality SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle). - Break down and solve complex problems while actively engaging with internal partners throughout the organization to meet and exceed customer service levels & transportation-related KPI’s. - Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting/analysis: data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation while driving scalable solutions. - Understand data resources and know how, when, and which to use (and which not to use). - Continue to move forward in the face of ambiguity and imperfect data. Find a solution around the problem that still maintains a high analytical bar. You do not suffer from “analysis paralysis”. - Communicate analysis results and techniques, both verbally and in writing, clearly and confidently to peers and business partners. - Explain analysis results to the stakeholders through verbal and written communications.
