What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Texas CDL Driver's License, Class A or B, P and S endorsements, Texas School Bus Driver Certification, Pass an Annual Physical Per (DOT), Pre-Employment Physical & Drug/Alcohol test, Acceptable driving motor vehicle record, At least 21 years of age, Ability to maintain effective student behavior management, Ability to operate Special Ed Equipment, Ability to assist Special Ed students, Ability to pull/push and secure wheelchairs
Nice to Have
High School diploma or GED preferred, Minimum of 1 year Experience as a commercial driver, Previous experience with special needs
What You'll Do.
Transport students over assigned route
Operate school bus safely
Perform vehicle Pre- and Post-trip inspections
incident and/or maintenance problem
Adhere to route directions and established schedules
Keep the interior of the assigned vehicle clean
Physically assist passengers in evacuation of the vehicle
Provide physical assistance to special education students
Operate wheelchair lift equipment
Assist student with special equipment
Demonstrate punctuality and reliability
Communicate effectively with parents
Complete all required paperwork
Administer and enforce student discipline
Prepare discipline reports
Read and interpret route directions
Use maps to follow directions
Attend training sessions for critical care services
Attend required in-services
safety meetings and training sessions
Maintain a cooperative attitude
Report any difficulties or changes in student's
Adhere to student Individual Education Plan document
Maintain confidentiality
Maintain the special needs bus binder
Maintain up-to-date route information
Maintain turn-by-turn directions
Maintain ridership information
Maintain student attendance records
