Full Job Description
When shopping on Amazon, customers care about price (low!), selection (more!) and delivery (they want it fast! they want it free!). However, they also want to manage their environmental footprint, and they want packages to arrive in fewer boxes, with more - and the Promise team sets the expectation for when their items arrive. The delivery promises we make are key to acquiring and retaining customers and influence the short and long term profitability of Amazon’s global retail business. We serve as the interface between customer expectations and Amazon's industry leading fulfillment capabilities. We are part of the Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) group that develops and manages systems that optimize inventory acquisition and placement so products are available for fast delivery. Our systems also optimize transportation and fulfillment plans to enable delivery options for our customers. The Promise team is looking for an exceptional Business Intelligence Engineer with broad technical skills to develop analytic and reporting capabilities that to improve the customer experience by developing analytics that surface signals from our fulfillment network to display more relevant offers to customers (e.g., by ranking faster shipping products higher in Search results), create new customer experiences (e.g., by messaging items that ship with items in your cart), and nudge customers towards lower cost / lower carbon fulfillment (e.g., by increasing prominence of locally available offers in recommendations). Key job responsibilities - The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and critical thinker with advanced problem-solving, data mining, and scripting (Python or Scala) skills. - They enjoy collaborating with top economists, research scientists, data engineers, product managers and software developers to make decisions for Amazon's retail and operations teams. - The candidate will be responsible for metrics, dashboards, and measurement across Promise platforms and
