Get to Know the Team Team focus for this role is building the [GrabMaps](https://grabmaps.grab.com/) product, more specifically the mapmaking and map delivery component. Get to Know the Role We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer Intern who is interested in how people build maps and how our team develops production systems at scale. You will contribute to backend components that help compile and ship maps on a daily bases for Grab and many B2B partners we collaborate with. You will be on site and will report to the Senior Engineering Manager based in Cluj. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform * You will apply engineering best practices to write high-quality code and contribute to the quality of the team's tools and services. * You will work with map data and learn how developers build scalable backend solutions for map-making applications. * You will work with Java and Python language, Kubernetes, Bash, but also with multiple frameworks such as Spark, and big data development environments such as Databricks * You will use AI tools in your daily work to improve productivity, support development tasks, and for design. ## Qualifications Qualifications What Skills You Will Need * Knowledge of Java with understanding of core object-oriented programming principles. * Basic experience with SQL, Git, software testing principles * Basic knowledge of cloud concepts (such as Azure or AWS) * Exposure to AI tools that support software development and learning, with curiosity to apply them responsibly. * Good command in English, written and spoken * 3 months internship period, 8 hours/day, starting July/August ## Add
