**Job description:** Charles River Development is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join its Cloud Platform Engineering team with a primary focus on Azure Policy automation, policy-as-code, and enterprise cloud governance. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving automated policy guardrails across Azure management groups, subscriptions, and platform services to support secure, compliant, and scalable cloud delivery. Working closely with engineering teams, product management, and business stakeholders, the Senior Cloud Engineer will lead the automation of policy definitions, initiatives, assignments, exemptions, remediation patterns, and compliance validation processes within a modern CI/CD operating model. **Key Responsibilities - Senior Cloud Engineer:** * Design, implement, and automate Azure Policy definitions, initiatives, assignments, exemptions, and remediation workflows across enterprise Azure environments. * Build and maintain policy-as-code solutions using source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tooling such as Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Bicep, or equivalent engineering patterns. * Establish and evolve governance guardrails at management group and subscription scope to enforce security, compliance, configuration, and operational standards at scale. * Integrate Azure Policy validation into engineering delivery workflows so policy compliance is tested early and continuously throughout platform and application deployment processes. * Partner with engineering and platform teams to define policy requirements, manage exceptions responsibly, and implement durable remediation and compliance improvement strategies. * Monitor policy effectiveness, investigate non-compliance trends, troubleshoot complex governance issues, and improve policy coverage, reliability, and maintainability over time. * Contribute to broader cloud platform engineering priorities including infrastructure automation, security engineering, obs
