Our automation team delivers control systems and software for conveyor systems, machine handling, waste recycling plants, and industrial process applications. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Automation Systems Engineer to join our Doncaster office on a permanent basis. This role would suit a practical, mid-level engineer who enjoys problem solving, commissioning, and working as part of a close engineering team. We are looking for someone with solid engineering fundamentals, a good attitude, and the willingness to continue developing technically. Reporting to the Automation Director, and working under the direction of the Senior Engineers you will work across the full project lifecycle including design, software development, testing, commissioning, and customer support. The role You will be involved in a variety of automation and controls projects, both in the office and on customer sites. Typical responsibilities will include: * PLC software development and testing using Siemens systems (TIA Portal and Step 7) * HMI and SCADA development * Electrical and control system design * Producing and modifying electrical drawings using EPLAN * Hardware specification and configuration * Site commissioning and fault finding * Supporting customers with automation and control system issues * Debugging and troubleshooting live systems * Working alongside senior engineers on larger projects * Supporting FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities * Minor electrical panel modifications where required Projects are varied and often fast paced, so the role requires someone who can communicate well, work
