The course will examine how governance structures influence healthcare delivery and promote patient safety and optimal patient outcomes. Through case examples and guest speakers students will learn how to determine the effectiveness of governance structures. Students will have a chance to review and critique governance structures and identify the essential contributors to strong and stable healthcare governance. Ethical management principles impact and inform decision making in healthcare and help to guide leaders through critical events with competing interests.
